The 480-hectare and up to 21-meter deep Vandet Lake is one of the country's cleanest lakes. It is a so-called karst lake, meaning a nutrient-poor lake on a limestone base, which has water inflow through cracks in the limestone.
The lake has a fine fish population, dominated by perch and roach, but also includes pike, eel, and the salmonid whitefish. Fishing permits for parts of the southern shore can be purchased from Thy Outdoor, Sennelsvej 2B, 7700 Thisted, during the store's opening hours.
Prices are 60 DKK for adults and 30 DKK for children between 12-17 years. Children under 12 years are free, BUT only when accompanied by an adult with a fishing permit. Waders are recommended.
You must have a valid national fishing license to fish here - you may also need a fishing permit from an association or a private owner. Buy your national fishing license via the link below.
Season is only indicative and you must always read up on conservation times for the individual species and fishing spots.
